Bubble Film Application in Roof Heat Insulation

When exposed to strong sunlight, building roofs absorb significant radiant heat. Conventional insulation materials often provide limited protection against this heat transfer. Aluminum-coated bubble film offers an effective thermal insulation solution by combining reflective layers with air-filled bubble structures.

Multi-layer bubble film typically consists of aluminum-coated outer layers and internal bubble chambers. The reflective aluminum surface can reflect up to 97% of radiant heat, reducing heat penetration through the roof structure. This reflective barrier helps lower heat transfer into the building and improves overall thermal performance.

Inside the material, thousands of sealed air bubbles form stable air chambers. These chambers create what is commonly known as “dead air space,” which reduces heat conduction. Since trapped air acts as a natural insulator, the bubble structure significantly improves the thermal resistance of the material.

The bubble film is lightweight and flexible, allowing it to adapt to different roof structures. It can be installed directly on roof decking and easily conforms to uneven or curved surfaces where rigid insulation materials may be difficult to apply. This flexibility allows for continuous surface coverage and consistent insulation performance.

Some multi-layer designs include additional barrier layers that help control moisture penetration. These layers reduce condensation formation and provide a vapor barrier that protects building structures and stored materials from humidity and water damage. This feature is particularly useful in humid or tropical environments.

Bubble film insulation is available in different layer configurations to meet various performance requirements. Two-layer structures are commonly used for basic building insulation. Five-layer aluminum-coated bubble films provide improved thermal reflection and durability for warehouses and industrial buildings. Seven-layer materials offer higher mechanical strength and enhanced insulation performance for facilities with large temperature fluctuations.

Due to its reflective insulation properties, sealed air-chamber structure, and lightweight design, multi-layer bubble film is widely used in roof insulation, industrial buildings, storage facilities, and temperature-controlled environments. It provides reliable thermal insulation while reducing heat transfer and improving indoor temperature stability.
