Why Wider Products Require Heavier Stretch Film Machines

In modern high-speed stretch film production lines, the circulating water cooling system is an important part of the film forming process. It uses a closed-loop system to control cooling water temperature with high precision, helping maintain stable production conditions and consistent film quality.

During the extrusion process, molten polymer leaving the die contains significant heat generated by both heating and shear inside the extruder. If cooling is not controlled properly, the film may experience thermal degradation, which can cause haze, weak areas, or thickness fluctuations. Advanced temperature sensors and PID controllers keep the cooling water temperature within a narrow range, allowing the molten film to cool at a stable and controlled rate.

Accurate cooling also supports stable polymer structure formation. The cooling rate influences how polymer molecules align and solidify during film formation. When the temperature is carefully controlled, the film can develop uniform clarity, stable mechanical strength, and consistent physical properties.

The circulating water system also supports stable material feeding in the extrusion process. In the feed zone of the extruder, an independent cooling circuit helps prevent excessive heat from reaching the raw material hopper. This prevents polymer pellets from softening prematurely, ensuring smooth and continuous feeding of material into the screw.

In addition, multi-stage cooling is commonly used in stretch film production lines. The first chill roll removes heat rapidly from the molten film to stabilize its structure. Downstream cooling stages then gradually reduce the remaining heat and relieve internal stresses within the film. This controlled cooling process helps maintain uniform film structure and consistent performance.

Through precise temperature control and efficient heat exchange, the circulating water cooling system helps maintain stable extrusion conditions, consistent film formation, and reliable stretch film quality during continuous production.
